Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society

The Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society (MAGS) is a nonprofit genealogical society founded in 1982 in the mid-Atlantic region, dedicated to helping individuals discover and preserve their Germanic heritage. Our membership is global from across the North America, Germany, Europe, and Australia. The MAGS mission is to stimulate and facilitate research on Germanic genealogy and heritage, and to promote the study of Germanic ancestors who settled throughout North America—not just the mid-Atlantic region. Bringing together researchers of all ages and experience levels, MAGS offers educational programs, conferences, publications, and shared resources that provide practical tools and support. Whether you are just beginning your journey or building on years of research, MAGS provides a welcoming, collaborative community where your family’s story can come to life.

In 2002 MAGS held a banquet to commemorate our 20th anniversary. This booklet was published for that event. It describes the early history of our organization.
